What is Navel Marketing?

When was the last time you truly contemplated your navel – beyond your morning lint excavation?

What does that have to do with marketing?

Those familiar with practice of Omphaloskepsis know the concept of contemplating one’s navel as an aid to meditation. Those of us who are bit more irreverent simply refer to it as “Navel-gazing”. Simply put, it is the practice of deep reflection and the process of becoming self-aware.

In a business, navel-gazing is critical if you are to develop an organization that is “buzz-worthy”. Too often, companies try to solve problems by launching a new ad campaign (i.e. putting lipstick on the pig”). True marketing means looking inward to develop a company worth talking about. Then you can more effectively spread your message. Navel Marketing works with companies to develop and implement the inner tools (a cause, employee evangelists, a positioning statement, etc.) that create an organization worth talking about. We then help you implement word-of-mouth marketing tools that help you spread the message.

One of our areas of specialty is helping you use social media tools to facilitate and participate in conversations with your customers and prospects. While there are many so-called “social media experts” these days, Navel Marketing helps you develop the target audience, message, and cause that will drive conversations about your brand and then we produce your content and manage your social media efforts for you. We deliver results from your social media efforts.
